PMI-ACP® Eligibility

The PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)® is a prestigious certification offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI) that validates a professional's expertise in agile methodologies and principles. Agile practices have become increasingly prevalent in project management, enabling teams to adapt, innovate, and deliver value in dynamic environments. The PMI-ACP certification recognizes individuals who possess a comprehensive understanding of various agile approaches, making them well-equipped to lead successful projects in today's fast-paced and ever-changing business landscape.

Who Should Apply?

If you work on agile teams or if your organization is adopting agile practices, the PMI-ACP is a good choice for you. The PMI-ACP is evidence of your real-world, hands-on experience and skill as part of an agile team.

Educational Background Agile Project Experience Agile Training
Secondary degree (high school diploma, associate's degree, or global equivalent) Candidates must have a minimum of 2,000 hours of general project management experience working on project teams earned within the last five years 21 contact hours of agile education
Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university In addition to the general project management experience, candidates must have a minimum of 1,500 hours of agile project experience working on agile project teams or with agile methodologies within the last three years 21 contact hours of agile education

Candidates must also have completed a minimum of 21 contact hours of training in agile practices, which can be earned through formal education or agile training courses.

Once candidates meet the eligibility criteria, they can apply for the PMI-ACP exam through the PMI website. Upon approval of their application, they can schedule and take the PMI-ACP exam at a designated test center. The exam assesses candidates' knowledge of agile principles, practices, tools, and techniques and evaluates their ability to apply agile methodologies in real-world scenarios.

Gain and Maintain Your PMI-ACP The certification exam has 120 multiple-choice questions and you have three hours to complete it.

To maintain your PMI-ACP, you must earn 30 professional development units (PDUs) in agile topics every three years.
